1. What is Glendale Little League and which communities does it serve?

Glendale Little League (GLL) is a chartered member of Little League International located in Glendale, Wisconsin. We proudly serve the communities of Glendale, River Hills, Bayside, and Fox Point.

  • Founded in 1970, GLL has a rich history of participation at the State, Regional, and National levels of Little League tournaments.
  • We have nearly 400 players ranging from ages 4 through 14 across various divisions.
  • Our mission is to instill a lifelong love of baseball by teaching fundamentals, emphasizing teamwork, reinforcing the importance of hard work, and—most importantly—ensuring that our players have fun!

2. Can I register my child if we live outside the listed communities?

Yes, you can register your child even if you reside outside the specified communities. However, you may need to:

  • Obtain a release from your local Little League, providing a reason for the transfer.
  • Get approval for the transfer to GLL.

3. How do I register my child for GLL?

Returning Players

  • Log In: Visit glendalelittleleague.com and click on "LOGIN" in the upper right corner.
  • Access Account: Enter your credentials to view available programs for your child.

New Players

  • Create an Account: Go to glendalelittleleague.com and click on "REGISTER" in the upper right corner.
  • Future Use: This account will be used for all future seasons.

4. When does registration open and close for spring baseball?

  • Registration Opens: Early December.
  • Registration Closes:
    • Tee Ball and Rookies Divisions: Mid-April.
    • Juniors, Majors, and Minors Divisions: Mid-February (due to player evaluations).
  • Late Registrations: May be accepted on a waitlist basis after teams are formed.

We encourage early registration to ensure your child's placement and to facilitate team formations.


5. When does the spring baseball season start and end?

Juniors, Majors, and Minors Divisions

  • Practices Begin: Early April.
  • Games Start: Last week of April.
  • Season Ends: Mid-June, often followed by playoffs.

Rookies - Machine Pitch Division

  • Practices Begin: April.
  • Games Start: Early May.
  • Season Ends: Early July, typically followed by playoffs.

Tee Ball and Rookies - Coach Pitch Divisions

  • Games Start: Late May to early June.
  • Season Ends: Mid-July.

Our seasons are structured to maximize player development and enjoyment throughout the spring months.


6. When does registration open and close for fall baseball?

  • Registration Opens: Late July or early August.
  • Registration Closes: Dates vary; please check our website for specific deadlines.

Timely registration helps us organize teams and schedules efficiently for the fall season.


7. When does the fall baseball season start and end?

  • All Divisions: The fall season runs from late August to early October.

The fall season is a great opportunity for players to continue developing their skills in a more relaxed environment.


8. What are the age ranges and grades for each division?

Juniors Division

  • Grades: 7th and 8th
  • Ages: 12 to 14 years old
  • Features: Full-sized diamond; complete baseball experience.

Majors Division

  • Grades: 5th and 6th
  • Ages: 11 to 12 years old
  • Features: Advanced skill development; introduces complex concepts.

Minors Division

  • Grades: 3rd and 4th
  • Ages: 9 to 10 years old
  • Features: Focus on skill development, including pitching.

Rookies - Machine Pitch Division

  • Grades: 1st and 2nd
  • Ages: 6 to 8 years old
  • Features: Uses pitching machine for consistent delivery.
  • Recommendation: Completion of at least one year of machine or coach pitch.

Rookies - Coach Pitch Division

  • Grades: K5 and 1st
  • Ages: 5 to 7 years old
  • Features: Coaches pitch to players; eases transition from Tee Ball.
  • Recommendation: Completion of at least one year of Tee Ball.

Tee Ball Division

  • Grades: K4 and K5
  • Ages: 4 to 6 years old
  • Features: Introduction to baseball fundamentals; non-competitive.

Our divisions are designed to align with players' developmental stages, ensuring appropriate challenges and growth opportunities.


9. How many games are played per week and on which days?

Juniors Division

  • Games per Week: 2-3
  • Typical Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays

Majors Division

  • Games per Week: 2-3
  • Typical Days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays

Minors Division

  • Games per Week: 2-3
  • Typical Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays

Rookies - Machine Pitch Division

  • Games per Week: 1-2
  • Typical Days: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays

Rookies - Coach Pitch Division

  • Sessions per Week: 1-2 (includes warmup/practice and game)
  • Schedule: Varies based on coach availability

Tee Ball Division

  • Games per Week: 1
  • Typical Day: Saturday mornings between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Game schedules are crafted to balance family time, school commitments, and the love of baseball.


10. How often do teams practice during the week?

  • Juniors, Majors, Minors, Rookies - Machine Pitch Divisions:
    • Typically once a week.
  • Rookies - Coach Pitch and Tee Ball Divisions:
    • Practices are often integrated into game sessions or scheduled based on coach availability.

Practices are essential for skill development and team cohesion, and we strive to keep them manageable for families.


11. Can I request for my child to be on the same team as a friend?

  • Tee Ball and Rookies Divisions:
    • Yes, we do our best to honor these requests.
  • Juniors, Majors, and Minors Divisions:
    • No, due to the team formation process aimed at balancing skill levels across teams.

We understand the importance of friendships and try to accommodate requests where league policies allow.


12. What are player evaluations and when do they take place?

  • Purpose: Assess players' skills in batting, fielding, catching, and throwing.
  • Who Should Attend: All players in the Juniors, Majors, and Minors divisions.
  • No Cuts: Every player is placed on a team regardless of evaluation results.
  • Timing: Typically the last weekend in February.
  • Benefit: Helps us create balanced teams for fair and competitive play.

Player evaluations are a valuable tool for coaches and ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants.


13. When will I find out which team my child is on?

  • Notification Period: Late February or early March.
  • Communication Method: An email from your child's coach welcoming them to the team.

Prompt communication helps families prepare for the upcoming season.


14. When will I receive the game schedule for my child's team?

  • Schedule Release: Typically in late March.
  • Access Through: The GameChanger app.
  • Invitation: Sent via the email provided during registration.

GameChanger offers convenient access to schedules, team communications, and real-time game updates.


15. Where are the games played?

Juniors, Majors, and Minors Divisions

16. How do I choose the right uniform size for my child?

Uniforms are ordered through Burghardt Sporting Goods.

  • Jerseys:
    • Fit similar to standard youth sizes.
  • Pants:
    • Run small in the waist and longer in length.
  • Exchange Policy:
    • Unworn pants with tags can be exchanged at Burghardt's if the desired size is available.

Note: Tee Ball and Rookies - Coach Pitch divisions receive jerseys and hats only.

Properly fitting uniforms contribute to player comfort and confidence on the field.


17. What is your refund policy if my child cannot participate?

  • Assessment Basis: Case-by-case evaluation.
  • Considerations: Costs incurred up to the point of cancellation.

18. What gear do I need to provide, and what does the league supply?

Provided by the League

  • Uniforms:
    • Juniors, Majors, Minors, Rookies - Machine Pitch Divisions: Hats, jerseys, pants, belt, socks.
    • Tee Ball and Rookies - Coach Pitch Divisions: Jerseys and hats only.
  • Equipment:
    • Extra batting helmets.
    • Catcher's gear for teams that require it.

You Should Provide

  • Required Items:
    • Baseball Glove: Appropriate size for your child's age and hand.
    • Cleats: Non-metal baseball cleats for safety.
    • Bat: Must meet Little League "USA Bat" specification.
    • Batting Helmet: For hygiene and personalized fit.
    • Baseball Bag: To carry equipment conveniently.
